NHLA is gathering information from NH House Rep candidates and will be announcing our endorsements in early August. For other races, check the independent NH Candidates website.
Election to be held in April 2008. Submit your nomination to chair at nhliberty.org. Accepted nominations so far are: Treasurer: Carol McGuire Director of Membership: Michelle Levell; Dave Mincin
Who are they?
Carol McGuire is the current NHLA treasurer. She is on the board of the Coalition of NH Taxpayers, active in local politics in Epsom and with the Reagan Network.
Michelle Levell is a homeschooling mom to three children. Besides being involved in her children's activities, she is a representative in the New Hampshire Homeschooling Coalition and has been a volunteer for the Liberty Forum in 2007 and 2008. Michelle is particularly passionate about educational topics, parental rights, privacy issues, 2nd amendment advocacy, and economic freedoms.
Dave Mincin moved to NH on February 2, 2004. He organized the Seacoast Porcupines group a month later, and served as it's coordinator for 3 years. Dave is currently the FSP's Welcome Wagon contact person for the Seacoast Region, and provides information and assistance for Freedom Folks wishing to move to NH.
While living in Dover, Dave ran for city council but unfortunately lost by a slim margin. The following year he ran for state representative.
He was a founding member of the advocacy group, Dover Concerned Citizens, and helped with various petitioning efforts and literature drops serving to inform the Dover folks of the out of control spending at the hands of the local government. Dave, along with citizen advocates working with the Dover Concerned Citizens group, raised enough public awareness to the goings on by the behest of the local city government to enable Dover to pass a tax cap this past fall.
As Civic Action director Dave helped set up an NHLA "adopt a highway project" just east of the Lee traffic Circle on Route 4, established the "Neighbors in Need," program, established a Christmas Caroling tradition, and organized the first and most successful volunteer fund raising effort at the Loudon International Speedway. Largely because of the success of that fund raising effort, Dave left Civic Action with an operating budget of over $2000.
More recently Dave has served as Co-chair of the Ron Paul Campaign (Strafford County). He is currently active with the Granite State Real ID Coalition, NH Parents For Educational Freedom, as well as holds the position of co-chair of the Barrington Republican Party Committee.
Dave believes that aside from Political Action, membership growth is the NHLA's most important task.
Growing our membership not only increases our credibility with the legislature, but it also increases our volunteer base, allows us to reach more of the NH folks and, keeps them informed of the nonsense that often goes on in Concord. He believes that through his extensive contacts and connections within various NH freedom groups, he can help the NHLA grow its membership and become an even more important voice for Freedom in NH.
